Victoria BC- Officers are working with international partners as we work to locate Brent Erskine.

On July 8th, VicPD officers were called for the report of a child custody matter. Attending officers learned that the child’s father, Brent Erskine, had taken his 4-year-old daughter Samantha to Vancouver on June 30th. This trip to Vancouver was part of a vacation agreement between Brent and the child’s mother, Agustina Wulandari, who are no longer together. Samantha was supposed to be returned to Victoria and her mother Agustina a week later.  When communications changed between Brent and Agustina, she became concerned and the matter was reported to police.

Investigators with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit began a comprehensive investigation. As a result of our investigation, Crown Counsel approved criminal charges on July 24th against Brent for Abduction and Disobeying a Court Order. Brent is currently wanted on an outstanding unendorsed warrant of arrest for those charges.

Investigators have determined that Brent travelled with Samantha to Jakarta, Indonesia. Through the efforts of family and the police, Samantha has since been dropped off with maternal family members in Indonesia. After leaving Samantha with her maternal family members, Brent travelled to Singapore to obtain a Visa. His current where-abouts are unknown. Detectives continue to work with partners, both in Canada and abroad, to get Samantha safely returned to Canada.

Major Crime Detectives urge Brent to seek out a Canadian embassy in order to turn himself in.
