Victoria, BC – The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) arrested one man early this morning after a criminal barricade which began last night.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on August 19th, Patrol officers attended a multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 100-block of Gorge Road East to arrest a man for domestic assault and breach of a release order. On scene the officers located the man in a suite, however he refused to surrender himself to police.
GVERT, along with Crisis Negotiators, responded and worked for several hours to resolve the incident. The man refused to communicate with police and made attempts to escape the scene and avoid arrest. GVERT officers employed multiple loud distraction devices, along with CS gas. Shortly after 1:30 a.m. the man exited the suite and was arrested by GVERT officers. There were no injuries.
The man was transported to cells where he was held to await court.
