Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are seeking a victim and witnesses after a hate crime on a BC Transit bus in late November.

On Saturday, November 28th, Patrol officers received a report that a man caused a disturbance and yelled racial slurs toward a Black man on a BC Transit Bus. At approximately 12:05 p.m., the suspect got onboard bus #15 at Yates and Quadra streets before he began targeting the lone Black man on the bus with racial slurs for several minutes. The suspect then left the bus.

A witness reported the incident to police. However, the victim has not come forward to speak with officers.

Officers obtained CCTV footage of the incident and have identified the suspect, but need to speak with the victim to continue the investigation.
