Victoria, BC – No arrests have been made after a graffiti spree that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 24th and the subsequent discovery of the vandalism of the Queen Elizabeth II statue in Beacon Hill Park.

21-7399 | Victims, Witnesses, Surveillance Video Sought After Graffiti Spree

Investigators are asking for victims, witnesses and those with surveillance video or information to come forward after a spree of graffiti that occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 24th.

Numerous buildings, including businesses, public and City of Victoria property appear to have been targeted in the vandalism spree. Many of the messages make reference to Beacon Hill Park and City staff. The cost of the damage is estimated to be in the several thousands of dollars.

Investigators are asking those whose property has been vandalized with this graffiti but who have not yet come forward to call our Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.

Investigators are also asking those with video surveillance in the areas of the 700 to 2000- blocks of Douglas Street and the 600-block of Pandora Avenue from overnight on Tuesday, February 24th to please review their video and contact investigators.

 

21-7423 | Head Still Missing As Officers Investigating After Queen Elizabeth II Statue in Beacon Hill Park ‘Beheaded’

Investigators are asking for those with information to come forward after the Queen Elizabeth II statue in Beacon Hill Park was “beheaded” in an act of vandalism.

Officers were called to Beacon Hill Park in the area near the petting zoo just after noon February 24th for a report that the Queen Elizabeth II statue had been vandalized. There they discovered that the statue’s head had been removed.

The head has not been recovered.

 

While both are considered mischief investigations which occurred in similar geographic locations and were discovered at similar times, investigators have not yet linked them.
