Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man this afternoon in connection to a break and enter and vehicle theft at a Victoria dealership early yesterday morning.
Shortly before 5 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, March 3rd Patrol officers were called to a vehicle dealership in the 2800-block of Douglas Street for an alarm. In the course of the investigation officers learned that the suspect broke into the dealership and stole a vehicle from that location. The vehicle was later discovered in a parking lot near VicPD headquarters at 850 Caledonia Avenue by an off-duty VicPD officer.
Shortly after 3 p.m. today Patrol officers received a report that the suspect from this incident had returned to the 2800-block of Douglas Street. With the assistance of dealership staff, who had recognized the suspect, Patrol officers located and arrested the suspect in the 2600-block of Ross Lane. The suspect was found hiding in a vehicle at that location. Officers arrested the suspect without further incident.
The man was transported to cells at VicPD where he was held to face several counts of breach of probation. The investigation into the break and enter and vehicle theft is ongoing.
