Victoria, BC – A man has been charged and remains in custody this afternoon in connection to an assault on a VicPD officer with a stolen vehicle.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 27th, a VicPD officer was in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue assisting City of Victoria Bylaw staff. The officer was standing next to a police vehicle when he was struck by a driver of another vehicle who approached from behind. The suspect vehicle was a stolen vehicle, and other officers arrested the driver at the scene of the incident. The officer who was struck was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
Chance Nichol, a 27-year-old Nanaimo man, has been charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of stolen property over $5000. He remains in custody.
