Victoria, BC – A man who is a suspect in a series of armed robberies in both Victoria and Saanich was arrested at gunpoint by VicPD Patrol officers this morning.

Just before 10:30 a.m. VicPD Patrol officers responded to a 911 call that a man armed with a knife had robbed a business in the 700-block of Bay Street. Officers learned the man had entered a staff-only area, brandished a knife and demanded cash. Staff handed over money and the man left. Staff, who were not physically injured, called 911 and provided an accurate, detailed description of the suspect.

Four minutes later, VicPD Patrol officers spotted the suspect in the 2500-block of Wark Street. He was taken into custody at gunpoint without incident and searched. Both a knife and cash were recovered.

The suspect bears close resemblance to a suspect wanted in similar incidents in Saanich. VicPD and Saanich Police Department officers will work together to share information as needed in support of both investigations.

The VicPD investigation remains ongoing.

If you have information about this incident and have not yet spoken with officers, please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
