Victoria, BC – CCTV cameras have been deployed and traffic disruptions are anticipated as Canada’s Governor General is attending the B.C. Legislature area on Friday, May 20, 2022.

We have deployed CCTV cameras in support of our operations to ensure public safety during the Governor General’s visit. This CCTV deployment is in keeping with provincial and federal privacy law. The cameras will be taken down a short time after the event. Temporary signs are posted in the area to ensure that those in the area are aware.

There will also be road closures to allow for ceremonial events in the area. Please follow our VicPDCanada Twitter account for the most up-to-date traffic information, which will include road closures and traffic disruptions. Officers will work to minimize disruptions as much as possible.

There will be temporary road closures in Victoria which start tomorrow morning. They are:

  • Belleville Street, between Menzies Street and Government Street, will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Menzies Street, between Superior Street and Belleville Street, will be closed from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
  • Quebec Street, between Oswego Street and Menzies Street, will be closed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
