Victoria, BC – A VicPD Traffic collision analyst continues to investigate a collision between a cyclist and a truck on Tuesday.

A VicPD Traffic officer was called to the intersection of Store Street and Pandora Avenue just after  noon on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, for a report that a collision had occurred between a cyclist and a truck. When the officer arrived, they found the cyclist being attended to by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics and Victoria Fire Department firefighters.

Despite coming into contact with the truck’s back tire, the cyclist narrow escaped extremely serious injury and was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. They, along with several nearby witnesses provided first aid and comfort to the injured cyclist.

The incident was captured on streaming video and has been the focus of several media reports and online commentary.

Careful investigations into collisions take time. Since the incident, the VicPD Traffic collision analyst has continued to investigate, locating and gathering surveillance and other video, interviewing witnesses and gathering forensic evidence. The investigator continues to collect and analyze evidence and prepare reports.
