Victoria, BC – February 22 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day and VicPD is asking Victoria and Esquimalt residents to talk about it. Police-reported incidents of human trafficking have been steadily increasing over the past 10 years. In 2021, British Columbia had the third highest reports of human trafficking in Canada. Human trafficking is happening in our community, and knowledge and awareness are important tools to prevention. Today, talk to your teens, friends, family and co-workers about human trafficking and the warning signs.
VicPD works in partnership with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking, and our frontline officers are trained in human trafficking awareness. If you are a victim of human trafficking or you have information about human trafficking in our community please call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1 or contact the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-833-900-1010 or use their online chat Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline.
