Victoria, BC – VicPD Traffic officers are asking for anyone with information to come forward after a report of a concerning incident on a busy roadway this afternoon.

Just before 2:30 pm, a VicPD Traffic officer responded to a call from a motorist regarding a road rage-type incident. The motorist reported that the incident began while they were travelling eastbound on Craigflower Road at Tillicum Road. They reported that a driver became enraged at them, driving inches behind their bumper, holding down their horn and gesturing at them. The motorist reported that this behaviour continued from Craigflower at Tillicum to the intersection of Bay Street and Bridge Street, where the vehicle following them made a left turn northbound on to Bridge Street – a distance of 2.5 kilometers.

The incident occurred from Craigflower Road at Tillicum Road all the way to Bay Street at Bridge Street.

The motorist reported that another driver approached them, who indicated that they had observed what had occurred.

The driver who followed the motorist is described as a Caucasian man, aged between forty and fifty years-old. He has a heavy build with longer hair, possibly in a pony tail. The vehicle he was driving is described as an older model maroon Mercedes 4 door SUV. Unfortunately, the motorist was unable to obtain a licence plate during the incident.

Traffic officers are working to identify and locate the driver of the vehicle which followed the caller. Additionally, VicPD Traffic officers are asking anyone with dashcam, door cam or surveillance footage captured this afternoon from the area along Craigflower Road, from Tillicum Road to the intersection of Bridge and Bay streets, to save the footage and also call the VicPD Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
