Victoria, BC – A partnership between VicPD Major Crime Detectives (MCU) and Nanaimo RCMP has led to additional arson charges against an accused who was previously charged with four counts of arson in Victoria and Saanich.
In late August, Edwin Singh was arrested and charged in a series of arsons in Victoria and Saanich after a lengthy investigation by VicPD Major Crime Unit (MCU) detectives. These four incidents included two vehicle fires where there was significant damage to property.
After a comprehensive investigation involving VicPD Major Crime Detectives and the Nanaimo RCMP, Edwin Singh has been charged with two additional counts of arson. These arsons occurred in Nanaimo, BC and include a vehicle fire and a fire set inside of a large retail store in the 6800-block of Island Highway North which caused approximately 2 million dollars in property damage.
Edwin Singh remains in custody.
