Victoria, BC – Investigators are asking for assistance after a man was assaulted with a knife on Monday night in James Bay. 

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30, officers responded to a report of a man who had been stabbed in the 400-block of Michigan Street. Officers determined the victim was in a designated smoking area when he was approached by a man asking for money. When the victim stated he had no money, the suspect struck the victim with a large knife on his hand and face.  

The suspect then left the scene on foot.  

A woman stopped to check on the victim before departing the scene. She was described as 5 feet eleven inches tall and “nicely dressed.” Officers are looking to speak with this woman as she may have important information about this investigation. 

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
