Victoria, BC – Patrol officers locate cougar in Selkirk Waterfront area early this morning. 

Just before 5 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the 400 block of Garbally Road for a report of a cougar sighting. Officers searched the area and located the cougar, which appeared to be full grown, in the 400 block of Dunedin Street. Officers kept an eye on the cougar’s location and used their patrol car PA systems to notify pedestrians and cyclists and assisted in escorting pedestrians out of the immediate area.

Conservation officers with the B.C. Conservation Officer Service were notified and attended the area. The cougar was last spotted near Waterfront Crescent at approximately 5:30 a.m. Officers remained on scene to ensure students were able to attend the nearby school safely.
