Victoria, BC – To kick off the New Year, VicPD staff, family and friends gathered this morning to welcome seven new police officers to the VicPD family.
“The seven officers I had the honour of swearing in today represent the future of the Victoria Police Department and are the first group of the 24 officers we plan to hire in 2024,” says Chief Constable Del Manak. “VicPD continues to be a competitive employer of choice and I can tell you there has never been a more exciting time to Join VicPD.”
Each recruit brings an extensive amount of volunteering and community service experience that will equip them to serve the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt. Some were already familiar faces to the VicPD family, as three were part of VicPD’s volunteer Reserve Constable program, three worked as VicPD Special Municipal Constables, and two had experience working for EComm – VicPD’s dispatch and call taking service provider.
Also included in these recruits is a National University Volleyball champion, a black belt Jiu-Jitsu instructor, and a mental health and addictions worker. This diverse array of talent reflects VicPD’s efforts to attract quality candidates from across the country who are looking to start or continue a challenging but rewarding career in policing.
“What sets us apart at VicPD is the quality of our people. We are committed to ensuring that we continue hiring only the very best to serve the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt,” continued Chief Del Manak.
