Victoria, BC – VicPD staff, relatives and friends gathered this morning to welcome seven new police officers to the VicPD family. Six of the officers are new recruits and one is an experienced police officer transferring from the Canadian Armed Forces.

“Our police department is one of the most well-respected organizations in Canada,” says Chief Constable Del Manak. “To be selected for VicPD is significant, and I thank each of you for making this choice. You are the future of the department, and I couldn’t be prouder to bring you on to our team as police officers.”

Each recruit brings an extensive amount of volunteering and community service experience that will equip them to serve the communities of Victoria and Esquimalt. Some were already familiar faces to the VicPD family as they had experience working as special municipal constables or Reserve constables.

Two of the new recruits were already family members of VicPD officers. Inspector Michael Brown proudly welcomed his daughter to the department, alongside her two uncles, Inspector Colin Brown and Sergeant Cal Ewer. Cst. Brown becomes the fourth generation of police officers in her family. Another constable proudly welcomed her sister to the Department.

This group of officers marks a total of 24 new officers hired in 2024, part of an ongoing effort to attract and train the best new and experienced officers from across the country to serve Victoria and Esquimalt. Applications are now being accepted for 2025 and 2026 training opportunities.
