Victoria, B.C. – VicPD Traffic officers are investigating a motor vehicle incident where a driver struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Douglas Street and Yates Street before 6:30 a.m. today. The pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

When officers arrived, B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics and Victoria Fire Department were on scene providing medical aid to the pedestrian. The intersection was closed while VicPD Traffic officers gathered evidence and was reopened shortly after 9:00 a.m. this morning. We thank commuters for their patience as we investigated this serious incident.

Investigators are asking any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident, to call the E-Comm Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
