Victoria, B.C.VicPD’s Strike Force, with assistance from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT), executed a warrant at a supportive housing facility in the 400-block of Swift Street last week, resulting in the seizure of one kilogram of fentanyl, a loaded nine-millimeter handgun and approximately $40,000 in cash. One man was arrested and remains in custody.

Earlier this month, Strike Force initiated a drug trafficking investigation into a suspected drug dealer. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence in the 400-block of Swift Street. Just after 6:30 p.m. on May 14, the warrant was executed by GVERT and VicPD Patrol officers. The sole occupant, a 62-year-old male, was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking and outstanding warrants for previous files in both Victoria and Saanich. He was transported to VicPD cells and is being held in custody for court.

A Loaded Handgun, Kilogram of Fentanyl and Approximately $40,000 in Cash were Seized During the Arrest

“This seizure underscores the real dangers posed by individuals involved in drug trafficking, and the impact it has on our community,” said Chief Del Manak. “To have firearms and significant quantities of Fentanyl present within a facility designed to support the most vulnerable in our community is particularly concerning. Our Strike Force officers demonstrated exceptional expertise in identifying and dismantling this threat, and their work is vital to keeping our community safe."

As the investigation is ongoing, further details are not available at this time.
