Victoria, B.C.VicPD officers responded to several resource-intensive calls across Victoria on Sunday, including two assaults on Yates Street, an incident on Courtney Street, and a man who was found seriously injured on Queens Avenue. 

A summary of the files is below: 

25-24409 

At approximately 9:35 a.m., the Victoria Fire Department called VicPD regarding a man with a weapon who was threatening and preventing firefighters from entering a building in the 700-block of Queens Avenue to attend a potential fire. Officers arrived and arrested the man. Another man was then found inside the building with serious injuries and was transported to hospital. Major Crime detectives are investigating, and further details are not available at this time. 

25-24430 

Just before 1:30 p.m., officers responded to an incident in the 700-block of Courtney Street, in which an individual was seriously injured. Major Crime detectives investigated and determined the incident was not criminal in nature. 

25-24457 

At approximately 6:06 p.m., Patrol officers responded to an assault of a business owner in the 600-block of Yates Street. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries while defending himself from the assault. Witnesses provided information about the male suspect, who is not believed to be known to the victim, and officers arrested him nearby shortly after. The victim received medical care at the scene and was transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) paramedics. The suspect was taken to VicPD cells then released on conditions. The investigation is ongoing. 

25-24469 

Approximately 90 minutes later, police received reports of another assault with a weapon occurring in the 900-block of Yates Street. Several officers from the Patrol Division and the Investigative Services Division responded to the scene. Witnesses provided information that led to the identification of a suspect, who was arrested nearby. A weapon was seized as evidence. BCEHS transported the injured man to hospital with serious injuries, but in stable condition. A male suspect remains in police custody, pending a court appearance later today.
