October 24, 2025

Victoria, B.C. — Downtown Victoria is about to get spooktacular! A major road closure will be in effect this Sunday, October 26, for the 11th Annual Thrifty Foods Wicked Victoria — one of the city’s favourite family-friendly Halloween celebrations.

VicPD officers and Reserve Constables will be on hand throughout the day to help keep everyone safe, manage traffic flow, and make sure the event is both fun and fright-free.

Road closures will be in place from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on:

  • Government Street (from Yates Street to Courtney Street).

Crosswalks will be managed by event volunteers and VicPD.

  • Government Street and Fort Street
  • Langley Street and Bastion Square
  • Government Street and Broughton Street

Get ready as the streets come alive with creative costumes, live music, local vendors, and plenty of Halloween spirit.

VicPD is proud to support this community tradition and looks forward to celebrating another fun and safe Wicked Victoria with everyone downtown.

Have a frightfully good time, Victoria!

Event Safety Tips | If You See Something, Say Something!

We want everyone to enjoy a safe and festive Wicked Victoria. We have established policies and procedures to minimize risk to the public during large events and encourage attendees to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.

  • Be Aware: Pay attention to what is happening around you, including the people and activities nearby.
  • Trust Your Instincts: If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. Do not hesitate to remove yourself from the situation.
  • Keep Valuables Secure: Keep your belongings safe and be mindful of pickpockets or theft.
  • Supervise Children: Keep a close eye on children in the crowd and establish a meeting point in case you become separated.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you see something that concerns you – unattended bags, unusual behaviour, or anything that seems out of place – please immediately notify a VicPD Officer or a Reserve Constable. You can contact the E-Comm non-emergency line at 250-995-7654. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.
  • Prepare for the Weather: Bring warm clothing and rain gear to stay dry in case of rain.
