Victoria, B.C. – Proactive policing and a strong partnership with a local business owner led to the quick arrest of an individual following an alleged arson incident earlier this week.
Following concerns raised by the owner of Allied Glass & Aluminum, VicPD collaborated to enhance safety and security measures at their location in the 500 block of David Street.
This proactive measure proved critical when, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on December 21, police became aware of an individual attempting to ignite a package near the buildings entrance.
Patrol officers immediately responded, arrested the individual, and quickly extinguished the fire. There was no damage to the building.
“This incident highlights the effectiveness of collaborative policing and working with our community partners to address safety concerns,” says VicPD Detective Constable Joel Durling, Major Crime Unit.
Anthony Migliarese, a 36-year-old male, is facing one count of Arson to Property and one count of Failing to Comply with his Undertaking. Migliarese has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on January 5, 2026.
