Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) is advising the public of the 17th Annual Stolen Sisters Memorial March taking place this Saturday, February 14, and the temporary road closures in the downtown core.

The Stolen Sisters Memorial March is an important event held annually in Victoria to memorialize Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals who have been murdered or gone missing. Organized by Stolen Sisters 2S231, the march aims to raise awareness about this ongoing tragedy, call for justice, and support healing for families and communities.

Participants will begin to gather at Centennial Square at 9:30 a.m. with the march starting at about 10:15 a.m. The route will proceed south on Government Street from Centennial Square to the B.C. Legislature. Rolling road closures will be in effect along this route as the march progresses.

Following the march, participants will gather on the front lawns of the B.C. Legislature for speeches and related activities.

VicPD officers and reserve constables will be present to escort participants and provide traffic control. Organizers will also have volunteers and marshals to help direct participants along the route.

Drivers should be aware that significant traffic disruptions are expected in the downtown core between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
