Victoria, BC – A man was arrested for multiple violations of both his court-ordered conditions and his house arrest after fleeing from officers on an electric scooter Monday.
On Monday, February 20, just after 2:15 pm, officers were in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue when they observed a man whom they knew to be bound by both house arrest and court-ordered conditions. The conditions of the man’s house arrest specifically prohibited him from being in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue as well as being outside of his residence for any purpose other than attending work. The officers spoke with the man, and informed him that he was under arrest for violating his conditions when he suddenly mounted a stand-up electric scooter and attempted to flee.
Officers called for additional units to respond to the area and followed the man as he attempted to elude arrest. Officers parked their vehicles at various points in the area in an effort to contain the man. The man then collided with a parked police vehicle on Fort Street. He attempted to flee on foot, but was restrained by responding officers and taken into custody. No one was injured.
Officers searched the man and discovered he was carrying a knife, bear spray and a collapsible baton, all in further contravention of his court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
He was held for court to face recommended charges for breaching conditions of his house arrest as well as breaching court-ordered conditions not to attend the 900-block of Pandora Avenue, not to possess weapons and not to possess knives in particular.
If you have information about this incident and have yet to speak with an officer please call the VicPD report desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1.
