Victoria, B.C. – The Victoria Police Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Inspector Conor King as the new Officer in Charge of Esquimalt Division; Inspector King officially assumed the role on July 21.  

Inspector King takes over from Michael Brown, who was recently promoted to Deputy Chief. 

Inspector King brings 27 years of policing experience to the role, with a diverse background including time spent working in the Patrol Division, Community Services Division and Investigative Services Division where he spent the last four years overseeing the Victoria Police Department’s specialized investigation teams. Inspector King works closely with partner law enforcement agencies, and health authorities in combatting overdose deaths; he’s recognized internationally as an expert in drug related crime and public policy.  

“I’m excited to be working in Esquimalt,” said Inspector King. “I believe policing is about being a part of the community; keeping people safe, so a community can reach its full potential. That’s a responsibility I take seriously.” 

Inspector King brings 27 Years Of Policing Experience To The Role As The New Officer In Charge Of Esquimalt Division

VicPD Esquimalt Division comprises community resource officers for outreach, the traffic section providing increased visibility, Operations Planning for events and demonstrations, as well as School Police Liaison Officers. Inspector King will also be actively engaged with the Esquimalt town council and community members at local events. 

“I'm looking forward to connecting with the community and building on the strong relationships already established,” Inspector King added. 

This appointment is a lateral transfer within the Victoria Police Department, allowing for continued expertise and connection within the region.
