Victoria, B.C. – A woman has been arrested and charged following an alleged theft from a downtown business and an alleged assault on a store employee who attempted to intervene.

Shortly after 11:25 a.m. on November 6, officers responded to the 1200-block of Government Street for a report of an assault. Witnesses reported that a woman had assaulted a store employee after being confronted about theft.

Police quickly located the suspect nearby and arrested her without incident. She was found in possession of multiple items believed to be stolen.

On November 6, 36-year-old Ashley OLSEN was charged with theft and assault.

She was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in connection with a previous theft charge.

OLSEN was held for a bail hearing under section 515 of the Criminal Code of Canada and was detained on all outstanding matters.

This investigation remains ongoing.
