Victoria, BC – Charges have been laid against a driver who accelerated toward a demonstrator during a demonstration at the BC Legislature on December 3.
Shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday December 3, a man was arrested after he drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk in the 600-block of Menzies Street, nearly striking a demonstrator. The man was arrested by on-site VicPD Public Safety Unit officers. This incident was previously reported by VicPD on December 4.
Yesterday charges were sworn against the driver for one count of Assault with a Weapon and one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The man was arrested by VicPD officers and is currently in custody.
This matter is now before the courts, and further information cannot be provided at this time.
