Victoria, BC – Claremont school came out on top in the Victoria Police Athletic Association is hosting its annual youth golf tournament.

It was a banner year for Claremont golfers as Cam Bourque and Josh Miller ranked first and third overall in the individual gross men’s ranks. Elgin Park and St. Georges’ schools came in second and third overall. Keaton Gudz from Spectrum took second in the men’s overall.

Mt. Douglas golfers Mirai Hayashi and Bee Borvornsuwan took first and third in the ladies’ gross. Oak Bay’s Tessa Frame came in a close second in the ladies’ gross.

The tournament, which hosted some of  the province’s best youth golfers took place on April 28th and 29th at Olympic View Golf course. Open to high school students throughout British Columbia the purpose of the tournament is to foster positive relationships between the police and the youth of our community, while supporting youth in achieving excellence in sport. Golfers from twenty-six schools took part in the two-day tournament.

The Victoria City Police Athletic Association is a non-profit society that supports events in the community and fosters positive relationships between the police and youth in Greater Victoria and on the South Island. Since its inception, the VCPAA has donated over one million dollars to events in our communities.  Officers volunteer hundreds of hours towards these initiatives throughout the year.

Along with the annual youth golf tournament, the VCPAA sponsors and supports:

  • Boys and Girls Junior High School City Basketball Championships
  • Youth Wilderness Program
  • Scholarships at Esquimalt High School, Victoria High School and Camosun College
  • Sponsor of numerous community athletic teams in all areas of the South Island
