Victoria, BC – The missing, potentially suicidal male who was the subject of a search in Beacon Hill Park by VicPD Patrol Officers and Search and Rescue (SAR) specialists was identified and located safely outside the initial search area this afternoon. However, while searching for the initial missing man, SAR specialists discovered a second male down in the park, unrelated to the original search. This second male is deceased.

The initial male was identified by witnesses and had been spotted in Victoria’s downtown while the search of Beacon Hill Park was underway. Once positively identified, it was discovered that he was the subject of outstanding warrants. Patrol Officers were able to track him to the 700-block of Pandora Ave., where he was taken into custody.

The second male, who was discovered in Beacon Hill Park by SAR specialists, is an 86-year-old Victoria man. It appears that this second male succumbed to a medical condition. His death is not being treated as suspicious and his identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
