Victoria, BC – An investigation by VicPD’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has led to the arrest of a male suspect with previous convictions for violent crimes and ties to a local gang.
After an extensive investigation, CRU officers, with the assistance of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on December 10th for a residence in the 1100-block of Empress Avenue.
Inside the house, officers found GHB, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. They also found a pump-action shotgun, a rifle, a significant amount of cash, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking. Jason Sheena, 43-year-old Victoria man, was taken into custody. During the execution of the warrant, officers also located evidence that appears to link Sheena to a suspected organized crime group.
Sheena faces charges including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of a weapon or ammunition contrary to a probation order, possession of a firearm knowing this possession is unauthorized, and possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition.
On April 24th, 2014, VicPD officers arrested Sheena during an investigation involving drugs, gang ties and stolen property. Charges at that time included possession of stolen property obtained by a crime and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order.
