Victoria, BC – Aaron Edward Craig, a 28-year-old man who is a convicted sexual offender and who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching his conditions was arrested by WestShore RCMP on Monday, following a tip from the public.
VicPD issued a warning for Craig as we believe he poses a significant risk of harm to young women and girls between the ages of eleven and seventeen.
Craig has been convicted of the Sexual Interference of a Person under 16 and of Communicating via Computer to Lure a Child under 16. He is currently facing charges and awaiting trial for 15 offences including Obtain/Communicate for Sexual Services under 18 and Telecommunicate to Lure child Under 16.
Craig utilizes social media sites, including Facebook and Nexopia, to lure his victims.
Craig is in custody after being wanted on a BC-wide Arrest Warrant for breaching the conditions of his bail. These conditions include:
You shall not be in the company of any person under the age of eighteen years, except for persons who are members of your immediate family.
You are not to possess or operate or access any device that is capable of being connected to the Internet.
You shall not consume alcohol or controlled substances.
You shall not attend any public park, school-ground, swimming pool, playground, skating rink, community center or recreational center where persons of the age of 18 years or less are present or might reasonably be expected to be present.
The Victoria Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to be vigilant in monitoring their children’s online activity and to discuss the dangers of online communication with strangers.
