Victoria, BC – Investigators are appealing for witnesses after a woman reported being sexually assaulted in Stadacona Park last night.

Officers were called around 10:00pm last night to the park, which is located in the 1500-block of Pandora Avenue, between Begbie Street, and Belmont Avenue, by the victim. She reported that while she was walking through the park, an unknown male approached her, attacked and then sexually assaulted her. The victim fought back, and was able to break free of the suspect and fled to safety, where she called police. She was not physically injured.

Officers are commending the victim in this incident for her decisive actions.

Major Crime Detectives are actively investigating and want to ensure the public is aware of this incident. Information is limited, so detectives are asking for assistance from witnesses.

The suspect is described as a mid-30’s, Caucasian male, approximately 5’10” to 6’0” tall who was last seen wearing dark clothing.
