Victoria, BC – Officers are investigating a report of a stalking and sexual assault involving a 12-year-old female victim that occurred just after noon today at the Bay Centre at 1150 Douglas Street. We are asking for your help in identifying the suspect.

The investigation has shown that the suspect appears to have followed two girls in the Bay Centre, and, once they were alone, physically and sexually assaulted one of the girls. The suspect then fled the Bay Centre and was last seen on foot headed north on Douglas Street. The suspect was seen to change his appearance as he fled.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian or Aboriginal male, 40 years of age, of average height, with a medium build. During the incident he wore glasses, a camouflage toque, a grey hat, a dark hoodie, a black winter jacket and jeans. The suspect has short facial hair. Two photographs of the suspect are below.

The victim did not require treatment at hospital for physical injuries, but is being offered support. Officers commend her bravery and courage.
