Victoria, BC – A man who is a suspect in a Saturday bank robbery, and who was wanted on warrants for similar offences in the West Shore, has been arrested.

Investigators were called to a bank in the 1000-block of Douglas Street on Saturday, September 28th just after 11 a.m. for a report of a robbery. Witnesses indicated that the male suspect produced a note and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was physically injured in the robbery.

Just after 11 p.m. that same day, while investigating an unrelated incident in the 800-block of Johnson Street, VicPD Patrol officers located a man wanted by West Shore RCMP on warrants. He was taken into custody.

VicPD officers noted that the warrants for which the man was wanted related to two robberies and flight from police in West Shore RCMP’s area earlier in the week. These alleged offences bore similarities to the bank robbery earlier that day in Victoria.

The man was transported to West Shore RCMP for his warrants.

VicPD Investigative Services Division detectives and RCMP detectives worked closely on the investigations and confirmed that the man arrested on the RCMP warrants was also a suspect in Saturday’s bank robbery in Victoria.

The man has subsequently been charged for the West Shore RCMP area incidents. The investigation into the Victoria area robbery remains ongoing. He remains in custody and is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
