Victoria BC – A man has been apprehended after barricading himself inside the Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue on Blanshard Street his morning.
Officers were called shortly after 8:30 a.m. after a report of an unwanted man inside the building. Upon arrival of officers, they attempted to speak with the man which was not successful. Out of an abundance of caution, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was activated along with Crisis Negotiators.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m., the man, who was suffering a mental health crisis, was apprehended and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is reported that there was damage inside the building. The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing.
