Victoria, BC – Officers are warning local business owners and staff members to be on alert after receiving multiple reports of a thief targeting valuables left in staff rooms.

In the most recent file, an officer attended a business in the 1400-block of Blanshard Street on December 11th. The manager reported that just after 4 a.m. a suspect man was captured on surveillance video following a person making a delivery into the business. The suspect man then proceeded to the staffing area where several items including cash, wallets and a mobile phone were stolen.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man between forty to fifty years of age. He was wearing a dark leather coat, blue jeans, a dark toque and had a large backpack. An image of the suspect is below.

This theft and the suspect described closely resemble several recent similar incidents targeting staff rooms in Victoria.

Community Services Division officers are asking local businesses to be on alert that this suspect is targeting local business and staff rooms. Officers are reminding staff members as well as business owners and operators to ensure that staff rooms and valuables are secured.
