Victoria, B.C. – Five protesters were arrested for mischief at the B.C. Legislature just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night. There were no injuries in the arrests. Protesters called for others to surround the Legislature building. Protesters actively obstructed officers. With the large crowd, it took several hours for our officers to be able safely transport the protesters to VicPD Headquarters. Officers who were responding to the scene were surrounded by over 100 protesters and were unable to respond to emergency calls for service.
The five protesters were transported to cells for processing and released on conditions not to attend the Legislature grounds, including Confederation Park. The mischief investigations remain underway.
Further updates will be provided as we are able.
