Victoria, BC – VicPD Traffic officers impounded a motorcycle and issued over $1,300 in violation tickets to the driver on Monday night.

On Monday, April 20th, at approximately 8 p.m., VicPD traffic officers stopped a motorcycle driving approximately 140 km/hr in the 2300-block of Blanshard Street. The speed limit in that location is 50 km/hr. The driver was without a motorcycle license, and the motorcycle did not have insurance. The driver was served over $1,300 in violation tickets for excessive speed, no insurance, and no license. The motorcycle was impounded for seven days.

Officers are reminding the public to obey posted speed limits, despite less traffic on the roads. May is around the corner and it will be High Risk Driving Awareness Month, a road safety campaign supported by the British Columbia Association of Chiefs of Police (BCACP). Officers will continue to monitor the roads in May and they will be focused on targeting high risk driving.
