Victoria, BC – A replica firearm was seized and a man released without charges after a firearms call early this morning.

Patrol officers were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 3000-block of Blanshard Street just before 2:30 a.m. this morning for a call that a man had produced a firearm. The caller reported that staff had attended the man’s unit to speak with him about a guest in his suite who was not allowed to be there. During the conversation, the man produced a handgun, but did not point it or threaten staff with it. Out of an abundance of caution staff called police.

Several Patrol officers arrived and spoke with the man. He was briefly taken into custody. A replica firearm and a flare were located and seized. The man was released without further incident.
