Hello and Happy Pride!

The month of June is Pride Month and Victoria’s annual Pride Week starts on Sunday, June 28th and runs through until Sunday, July 5th. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions many of this year’s in-person events have either been cancelled or modified to be held virtually, including the Pride Parade.

Regardless of the events being cancelled or being held virtually, it is important that we at VicPD show our support for the LGBTQ2S+ community, including our colleagues we work alongside every day.  Last year, our officers proudly wore 100 sets of “Victoria Police” rainbow patches during Pride Week. I have authorized these patches to be worn again this year during Pride Month, starting on Monday, June 15th through to Sunday, July 5th as a clear, highly-visible declaration of our support.

You will see VicPD officers wearing these patches in the days and weeks ahead. We want to show all members of our community that the Victoria Police Department supports and serves all, regardless of where they come from, who they are, or whom they love.

Happy Pride everyone!
