Victoria, BC – A woman is safely in hospital after an intervention by VicPD officers this afternoon.

Patrol officers were called to the 1600-block of Gladstone Avenue just after noon today for a report that a woman was armed with a knife and in crisis. When they arrived, officers began to speak with the woman, using crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to work to end the incident safely. Officers with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, including Crisis Negotiators responded to assist.

Officers were able to convince the woman to put down the knife. She surrendered herself and was taken into custody without incident. She was not physically injured, but was transported to hospital for assessment.
