Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man yesterday morning after he threatened pedestrians, blocked a roadway, and damaged property including several vehicles, two city trees, and a building door.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on August 31st, Patrol officers received multiple reports of a man ripping branches off a tree and trying to hit a passerby with them in the 700-block of Fisgard Street. The man was then reported to have chased other pedestrians and threatened violence toward them.

While officers were responding to the scene, witnesses reported that the man then pushed a large dumpster into the roadway on Fisgard Street. The man then damaged multiple parked vehicles in the area as well as the glass door to a multi-unit commercial and residential building in the 700-block of Fisgard Street.

Witnesses at the scene provided a description of the suspect. Patrol officers located and arrested the man near the intersection of Blanshard and North Park streets.

The man was transported to cells where he was held to await court.

The man faces recommended charges including one count of uttering threats and five counts of mischief.
