Victoria, BC – Patrol officers are on scene on the south side of the Johnson Street bridge where a search operation is underway to locate a person who was last seen in the water late this afternoon.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., Patrol officers were called to a report of a person in distress in the water on the south side of the Johnson Street bridge. Multiple officers attended and began to search for the individual but the person was not located. The search efforts included an officer entering the water and searching underneath nearby docks. The officer was in the water searching for a significant period of time. He was treated on scene by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics for exposure to the cold.

The search efforts for this individual continue with assistance from a number of partner agencies, including Victoria Fire Department, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Coast Guard. This is an ongoing incident and we will provide an update when we have more information.
