Victoria, BC – VicPD is committed to transparency, open data, and breaking down barriers to communication and understanding. That commitment is the reason why we’re taking this deep dive into fifteen measures on our Community Dashboard, which, along with our online quarterly reports, publications, and other information are part of Open VicPD, and are how we are telling the story of working towards our strategic vision of “A Safer Community Together.”

Documents Released To The Public – Community Dashboard

The Documents Released to the Public Chart shows the number of community updates (news releases) and reports published, as well as the number of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests that are released.

To interact with the charts, you can filter by year on the right side by clicking once on the desired year. You can also click directly onto the chart and confirm the selection by clicking the green checkbox.

The chart has four sections. The top number shows the total amount of publications, news releases and completed FOI requests. The chart then breaks down these categories into separate graphs for publications, news releases and FOI requests, by year.

As with the other charts, to interact with the chart, you can filter by year on the right side by clicking once on the desired year.

This chart will be updated with 2020 information once the year is completed.

Up Next

Next week, we take a closer look at our fifth measure under our goal to Enhance Public Trust; the number of hours our VicPD volunteers and our volunteer Reserve Constables give back to our communities.

Each week we’re looking at one of our Open VicPD Community Dashboard measures in detail to help you understand what we’re measuring, why we’re measuring it and how we think it helps you track our progress towards achieving our goals.
