Victoria, BC – Detectives with VicPD’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) are investigating after a victim suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in a stabbing yesterday. One man has been arrested.

At 5:45 p.m. yesterday evening, Patrol officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 100-block of Gorge Road East. On scene officers located a man who had been stabbed and was suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries. In addition, two other victims had been bear sprayed and were suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. BC Emergency Health Services paramedics attended and transported the stabbing victim to hospital.

Officers gathered information and learned that the suspect had fled to a nearby multi-unit temporary housing facility in the 100-block of Gorge Road East. Officers located the man within a suite at that location and arrested him without incident.

The suspect was transported to cells where he was held for court. The suspect faces recommended charges of three counts of assault and one count of aggravated assault. The suspect was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a robbery and breach of probation charge.

The victim remains in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
