Victoria, BC – Patrol officers apprehended a woman in a mental health crisis who reportedly assaulted a man with a weapon yesterday.
At approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17th, Patrol officers were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 700-block of Pandora Avenue for a report that a woman, armed with a knife and experiencing a mental health crisis, was threatening other residents.
Multiple officers attended and encountered the armed woman in a hallway within the building. Officers spoke with the woman, utilizing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. The woman dropped the knife and surrendered to officers. She was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers learned that the woman had assaulted a man during the incident. He was not physically injured.
Officers apprehended the woman under the Mental Health Act. The woman was transported hospital for a mental health assessment. She was also arrested for assault with a weapon and released with conditions and a court date.
