Victoria, BC – Patrol officers arrested a man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant last night after he assaulted a staff member and smashed a glass door at a Victoria business.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Monday, March 8th, Patrol officers were called to a business in the 3000-block of Blanshard Street for a report that a man had assaulted a staff member and smashed a glass door.

Officers learned the suspect had stolen items from the store and, when confronted, he assaulted a staff member. The suspect then smashed the glass door to the business and fled. The staff member suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the incident.

Investigating officers identified the suspect. Officers then located and arrested the suspect at a temporary housing site in the 1900-block of Blanshard Street. Officers also arrested the man on an outstanding Canada-wide warrant for assault with a weapon related to an incident in Vancouver.

Officers transported the man to cells at VicPD where he was held to await court.
