Victoria, BC – Officers with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT) have resolved an incident involving a suspicious package in Vic West Park this afternoon.

At approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon Patrol officers were called to Vic West Park in the 100-block of Wilson Street for a report of a suspicious package. Officers located the package near the dog park at that location.

The package contained propane tanks, a large bottle of an unknown liquid, and a concerning note which included derogatory remarks toward Bylaw staff.

Out of an abundance of caution Patrol officers contained the park and GVERT was called to assist with the investigation.

Officers learned that a person who had been sheltering in the park left the package after having to relocate their tent. The bottle of liquid was determined to be bodily fluids and the package was inert. Officers disposed of the package and the scene is clear.

This file remains under investigation.
