Child Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries After Hotel Pool Incident

Victoria, BC – A child is in hospital and suffering from life-threatening injuries after an incident at a Victoria hotel pool yesterday.

At 6 p.m. on March 24^th, Patrol officers were called to a hotel pool in the 3100-block of Douglas Street for a report that a child was injured in an incident at that location.

Officers attended, along with BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, and assisted in providing medical aid to the child, including CPR. The child was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The child remains in hospital.

Detectives with VicPD’s Investigative Services Division and officers from the Forensic Identification Unit attended the scene in order to conduct a fulsome investigation into the circumstances of this incident.

The investigation remains ongoing. However, officers do not believe a criminal act was involved in this tragic incident.
