Victoria, BC – Traffic in downtown Victoria was interrupted this afternoon by a protest and march that has now concluded.
At approximately 12 p.m. this afternoon a large group gathered at the Legislature for a protest. There was a short march in the downtown area that led to traffic disruptions. VicPD Traffic officers and the Greater Victoria Public Safety Unit were on site to ensure everyone’s safety.
There were no issues during the protest and no enforcement action was taken.
The Public Health Officer recognizes the Charter right to peaceful assembly and is not prohibiting outdoor assemblies for the purpose of communicating on a matter of public interest, provided steps are being taken to limit the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
