Victoria, BC – A man violating court-ordered conditions with a history of convictions for sexual offences, including offences against children, was arrested by Community Services Division (CSD) officers on Friday afternoon after being spotted on Gonzales beach by an off-duty VicPD officer.

CSD officers were called to Gonzales beach by the off-duty officer just before 5 p.m. on Friday, April 16th. The off-duty officer spotted the man on the beach, whom he knew to have court-ordered conditions barring him from both public beaches and from being in close proximity to children. The officer called for on-duty officers to assist.

The on-duty officers arrived, observed the man in breach of his court-ordered conditions, and moved to arrest him. The man initially fought with officers and a brief struggle ensued before he was taken into custody. No one was injured.

The man was held in custody and faces two recommended charges for breaching court ordered conditions.
